Question 1

How do I create an account?

Accepted Answer

Open Connectfy on a computer and sign up with your email — we send a 6-digit code to confirm it — or continue with Google. You'll pick a username people can find you by. You need to be at least 13.

Question 2

Is Connectfy free?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Messaging, groups and calls are all free.

Question 3

Can I use Connectfy on my phone?

Accepted Answer

Not yet. The web app is made for computers; apps for iOS and Android are coming soon. Until then, open Connectfy in a desktop browser.

Question 4

Can I use more than one computer?

Accepted Answer

Yes, one at a time: signing in on another computer ends the session on the previous one. Enter your vault passphrase on the new computer and your message history opens there too.

Question 5

How do I find people?

Accepted Answer

Search by name or username and send a friend request. Whether someone can message you before you're friends depends on their privacy settings.

Question 6

Does Connectfy have group chats?

Accepted Answer

Yes — groups of up to 40 people, with an owner, admins and a permission for each action. Invite people directly, with a link, or let them request to join.

Question 7

What can I send?

Accepted Answer

Text, photos and videos (several at once as an album), files, voice messages, GIFs, polls, locations, contact cards and links with previews.

Question 8

Can I edit or delete a message?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Edit a message after sending and it's marked as edited. Delete it just for you, or for everyone in the chat.

Question 9

How do I keep my chat list tidy?

Accepted Answer

Make your own chat lists, archive chats you don't need right now, mute for a set time and pin what matters. Mutes and pins can expire on their own.

Question 10

Can I make video calls?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can make one-on-one voice and video calls, share your screen, and run group calls with up to nine cameras and one shared screen at a time.

Question 11

Do calls work on a strict network?

Accepted Answer

Usually, yes. When a firewall blocks a direct connection, the call is relayed — and it stays encrypted end to end.

Question 12

Will I hear a call if Connectfy isn't open?

Accepted Answer

Yes, if you've turned on push notifications for that computer. You can answer straight from the notification.

Question 13

Is Connectfy end-to-end encrypted?

Accepted Answer

Yes, always. Messages, attachments and calls — in direct chats and in groups — are encrypted on your device, and our servers only ever handle ciphertext.

Question 14

What is the vault passphrase?

Accepted Answer

It locks the Encrypted Key Vault, which holds the keys to your message history. It never leaves your device, so we can't read your history — and nobody can recover the passphrase for you. If you lose it, old messages stay locked, though new ones keep working. Keep it somewhere safe.

Question 15

Can I turn off read receipts?

Accepted Answer

Yes. It works both ways: when yours are off, you don't see other people's either.

Question 16

How do I turn on two-factor authentication?

Accepted Answer

In Settings → Account Settings. Once it's on, every sign-in also needs a code we email you.

Question 17

How will I know if someone signs in to my account?

Accepted Answer

We email you when a new device signs in, and when your password or email changes. Each email has a one-click “That wasn't me” link. Your activity log lists every sign-in too.

Question 18

What happens when I block someone?

Accepted Answer

Messages stop in both directions straight away, and your profile disappears from their view.

Question 19

How do I change the language?

Accepted Answer

In Settings. Connectfy speaks English, Azerbaijani, Russian and Turkish, and your choice follows your account.

Question 20

How do I change colors, fonts or text size?

Accepted Answer

Settings → Change Theme. Pick an accent, chat and receipt colors, one of six fonts, an interface size and a separate message size, with a live preview.

Question 21

How do I delete my account?

Accepted Answer

In Settings you can deactivate your account for a break or delete it. After deleting, you have 30 days to restore it from the email we send.
